We've Been Here All Along
On July 1, 2011 I joined the club that nobody wants to join, and lost my first pregnancy.
On March 6, 2012 I published Baby Dance to Youtube, a short film chronicling several women’s experience with miscarriage and infertility.
July 22, 2015 we finished our first successful crowdfunding campaign to start production on Don’t Talk About the Baby, which was incredible in more ways than one.
September 26, 2015 we held our first public filming event, which created videos that help thousands of people a month feel like they’re not alone in their grief.
July 21, 2018 we officially wrapped production on the film.
October 15th, 2018 the film will be released to the world.
It’s been a long journey to create this documentary, with many of you joining us at different stages. Some of you have been there from the start, and some of you have just stumbled upon the project while we’ve been burrowed away frantically putting on the final touches. Throughout the years, we’ve received notifications of each follow, each like, each new email subscription, and we’ve noticed and appreciated every single one.
You see, what makes this project so different than many others isn’t just that it’s had such a long lifespan of production (you’d be surprised to learn that’s not uncommon in indie film!), but the community. It’s people who shared their stories in videos, and still interact with viewers who watch those videos to this day. It’s people who blogged about their loss six years ago, and still share our news today.
Many people might have been wondering over the years whether this film would ever be finished. After all, our initial goal had a release date of 2016, and we’ve only just now announced the release date! We’ve had some nail biting times waiting to hear if grants came through (none ever did), exhilarating highs when we hear from people who are moved by the project (we love those emails), and so many brainstorming sessions where we tried to figure out how to make this project happen on a shoestring budget.
Throughout it all, we’ve been chipping away at the iceberg that has been this project, for years. Every day we’ve thought about ways to move forward, make progress and bring this project to the screen. Each and every day we’ve imagined the final product, the film that will help break the stigma around pregnancy loss and infertility.
Today we’re so thrilled to finally share the date that the project will make it to the screen.
We’re so grateful to everyone who follows this project, and plans to watch the film. Our hope is that every viewing of this film brings a little bit more awareness and a little bit more understanding to these once taboo topics, and starts new conversations.
